We can even have you sit with the lab technician so they can match the shade of your new restoration perfectly to your other teeth.
Our lab uses a variety of materials to create your custom crown. Crowns made with porcelain fused to metal are a hardworking option for molars that handle heavy chewing, while porcelain such as e.max provides a translucent quality that mimics natural teeth.
When is a Crown needed?
Porcelain crowns may be employed to correct a range of problems, with the most common use being to take care of a very large cavity that threatens the health of the tooth.
Other reasons crowns are used include:
- To protect a tooth that has had a root canal. Teeth are more susceptible to fracture as a result of root canal therapy, as the dead tooth is now less resilient.
- When missing teeth are replaced with dental implants, a porcelain crown is used to “cap” the restoration.
- Crowns can be used for aesthetic purposes to improve the color, shape or style of a smile. While veneers are frequently the choice for aesthetics,
in some cases a patient needs full coverage, such as when there is too much decay, the tooth has a fracture or the patient grinds his or her teeth.
